Je vous avais déjà parlé de Hide , le ninja qui travaille dans mon labo. Il est juste derrière moi. Et il est donc japonais (et martien aussi je crois).

A ma droite, c'est Jo. Enfin Jo c'est pas son prénom, c'est son nom, mais pour les pas coréen, c'est plus facile à prononcer/retenir.

Ce samedi est arrivé un nouveau post-doc. Chinoise (J'ai deja oublié son nom).

Les autres membres du Labo : Karthik, indien; Yonghui, chinoise; Jian, chinois; Bara, syrien.

Mon chef, Robert. Un américain ? Et bien non, c'est son prénom "pratique". En fait il s'appelle Hongbo. Il est chinois.

J'ai du me tromper d'avion. Je suis à Boston ou Singapoure? Enfin, cela ne me dérange pas du tout, j'aime l'Asie.

Enfin, j'aime surtout les sushis. A quand une japonaise ?

D'ici quelque temps devrait arriver une anglaise ! Je ne serais donc plus le seul européen.

Oh joie! Oh Bonheur !Les Red Sox ont perdu quatres matchs, et surtout pris deux taules contre les Yankees ce week end (4-12, 11-14, 5-13 et 5-8).

J'en ai fait pleurer plus d'un au labo avac ma casquette vendredi après midi, lors du premier match de la série (perdu 4-12).

Par contre je n'ai pas poussé le vis jusqu'à renter chez moi avec le dit couvre-chef sur la tête, j'habite trop près du Fenway
Park.

Voilà, c'est tout pour aujourd'hui.

Pour les 3 gars du fond qui suivent, le canard auquel le travail a été envoyé, c'est P.N.A.S ("Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences").

Ce journal, c'est encore un cas à part.

Les grosses pontes américaines, lorsqu'enfin elles entrent à l'académie des sciences made in US, elles gagnent dans le même temps un droit de publier comme bon leur semble dans ce journal (3 articles par an je crois), ou grossièrement de donner ce droit à une personne de leur choix.

En l'occurrence, dans le cas qui me concerne, c'est l'ancien chef de mon chef, le "reviewer" copain, qui a "donné" une place dans PNAS.

Ceci explique donc cela.

Mon chef est venu me parler samedi matin. Suite à mes 2 - 3 expériences, il m'a ecouté et a changé le titre et
deux trois bricoles.

Et pour acheter mon silence (ou pour me remercier du travail effectué), il va me rajouter à la liste des auteurs.

Que l’on s'entende bien. L'article est bon (surtout depuis que mon nom figure dessus?).

Mais j'étais juste surpris par le laxisme des reviewers.

D'ailleurs, ce matin nous avons recu un mail nous demandant d'être gentil avec les demandes en électricité:

"Extremely high temperatures and humidity are expected throughout the region today. As a result, the power plant (MATEP) that serves the hospitals in the Longwood Medical area will struggle to meet increased electrical and chilled water needs. We ask everyone at CHB to help reduce the demand for electricity and cooling during this period.

Although the following actions are always helpful, when the outdoor temperature exceeds 90 degrees F, it is critical that we follow the following energy saving procedures:

Turn off all unnecessary lighting, especially in perimeter areas (hallways, corridors, storage rooms, etc.) with adequate daylight.
Turn off your task lights when leaving your work area for 15 minutes or more. (Feel free to leave a sign that says you’re at work that day, but that your lights are off to conserve energy!)
Turn off computers, monitors, and especially printers whenever possible. If computers must stay on, turn off the monitors whenever possible. Although powering down and back up computers does use energy, it is still worth turning them off if you expect to not use them for even a few hours. All staff members should turn off their computers at night!
Close windows shades and blinds to keep the heat out. If you can raise the temperature in your area by a few degrees, please do so.
In research areas, make a special effort to keep exhaust hood sashes closed or at very minimal opening.
Check to be sure coffee pots and other "plug loads" are turned off when not in use.

Hier soir au labo, des personnes bien intentionnées du labo d'à côté sont venues me débaucher, me proposant d'aller se faire une toile. Au programme, Miami Vice.

Ce week-end, m'ennuyant un peu, j'avais songé aller au ciné, mais aucun film ne me donnait la force de surpasser mon dégout pour aller au cinéma seul.

Mais (bien) accompagné, voir Miami Vice, pourquoi pas.

Ma première séance outre atlantique en fait. En VO, without the subtitle.
Concernant la salle, cela n'a pas été le bordel auquel je m'attendais, certes les gens mangent, boivent, mais restent plutôt discrets (j'ai peut être eu de la chance). En même temps, parfois tu te demandes si c'est un cinéma ou un restaurant quand tu vois le choix de nourriture.

Concernant le film maintenant.
Bon, il y a de belles images (bonne jusqu'à très bonne photo), c'est plutôt bien filmé (même dans les plans un peu pesant de longueur, ce qui permet de les faire passer assez bien finalement).

Du côté du scénario, il ne casse pas trois pates à un canard, mais j'ai trouvé que l'atmosphère sombre était plutôt pas mal rendue.

En fait le plus gros point noir de mon point de vue reste le jeu limite minable de Farell, et celui tout juste mieux de Foxx. Mention spéciale (pas flatteuse) au méchant amoureux de la belle, le "disco boy" (le geek de service). J’ai beaucoup aimé le personnage et l’acteur incarnant Jesus.

Ca passe quand même plutôt vite (2h30 de film), et les rares scènes de tension armée sont plaisantes.

En fait, en y repensant à froid, ce film lorgne du côté de "Traffic" et de "Heat", mais reste quand même très en deçà de ces deux excellents longs métrages.
